About Ryan Schlechter Foundation
Be the one that saves a life!

Ryan Schlechter Foundation was founded in 2017 to fund, promote and spread awareness for mental health and initiatives related to suicide prevention. As well to aid families, friends and individuals who have either lost someone to suicide or whom are on the tough journey of watching their loved one struggle.
On June 9th, 2016, 36-year-old Ryan Schlechter sadly and tragically decided to take his own life. Ryan was a loving, kind, and generous father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose infectious smile and laughter made everyone around him feel good. He was an expert fisherman whose love and passion for the outdoors had him dreaming of becoming a conservation officer and spending the rest of his life in Northern Saskatchewan.
Ryan was a journeyman welder by trade and was valued by his employer for his work ethic and skill.
In September 2017, Ryan was inducted into the Saskatchewan Broomball Association Hall of Fame. Ryan was a world class broomball player who was always a dominant force on the ice.
By all accounts Ryan Schlechter was an accomplished person, fathering two amazing children Seth and Bella, but all of this could not keep Ryan with us.
Ryan struggled with depression like so many people do.
Chances are we all know someone who is suffering from depression, but as is the nature of human beings, we are taught to "put on a smile" or be "tough".
The stigma attached to depression is unfortunate and we need to learn to talk about it and find ways to help those who battle it. With your help, through this foundation we can work at preventing and educating people about depression.
